TJ and the Time Stumblers

Bill Myers’ youth books are becoming notorious (oops! should have said noticed). He is one of those responsible for McGee and Me. His inimitable style -- filled with hilariously weird jokes, off-beat sound effects, and a lot of understanding for the youth of today -- is faintly reminiscent of what P.G. Wodehouse wrote in an earlier generation. The reader does not have to dig very far to find the underlying lessons amidst this merry mayhem. Those good basic Christian living lessons slide in effortlessly with the chortles and guffaws, and stay put in the readers mind. Both public and Christian schools will find use for New Kid Catastrophes. Its interest holding capacities encourage continued silent reading. With all its sound effects, it also works really well read aloud.
